A new coexistence of the sexes
A new coexistence of the sexes
The power of the feminine reconciles opposites so that women and men can develop their full potential and live in peace with themselves and the world
In her new book, Kristina Rumpel tells the story of humanity as a story of women. The suppression of femininity and misguided masculinity have led to the catastrophes in this world. Instead of thinking in terms of opposites, we need to integrate them.
What does woman mean, what does man mean?
As a research assistant in the German Bundestag, family and women's policy became the specialist area of sociologist Kristina Rumpel. In her second book, "The Power of the Feminine", the freelance author, trainer and mentor for strengthening women's power in all areas of life explores the limits and dangers of concepts that have previously been considered contradictory:
"Our ideas of male and female and of woman and man have been thrown into such chaos by the distortion of millennia that we must first clarify what the difference actually is between the concepts of man/woman, male/female and what the distortion and misunderstandings between the sexes have been that have prevented reconciliation." Then she wants to develop a new ability to integrate that allows us to recognize what we have in common in diversity and leave behind the divisive aspects that arise solely from thinking.
Equality and gender construction
The much-criticized "gender mainstreaming," i.e. the view that results from the distinction between sex (biological sex) and gender (socially constructed sex), is, according to the expert, ideally suited to a new birth culture in order to detect structural inequalities and become aware of them. However, the distinction between gender and sex is once again a mental construct that aims at division and separation, and is also too simplistic because the connection to the universal life energy is missing.
That is why young people in particular tend to laugh at it rather than accept it - and not because all inequalities have already been eliminated. They sense intuitively that men and women are, above all, living, soulful beings. Souls do not differentiate between sex or gender - just as these attributions do not take into account the male/female qualities inherent in humans. The differences shape life as a whole, without separating us.
Because of the unequal treatment of men and women, the focus all these years was on liberating women from men, from paternalism and role-setting. In the pursuit of emancipation, women constructed themselves as equal to men. They wanted the same rights, the same freedoms, the same tasks, the same power, and so on. And although these demands are all important and right, they still fall short of what is actually at stake. It is about liberating femininity as an essential quality of life.
The polarities of life
Even if there are physical conditions and the female is naturally distinguished by the ability to give birth, humans are more than just their bodies. Like every living being, they have soul qualities that set them apart. For Kristina Rumpel, the question of female and male characteristics begins at this level and therefore cannot be answered exclusively in physical or social-cultural terms. "Male and female are energies or power poles within which life arises and continually develops. Both forces, male and female, are always at work in humans."
Depending on the quality of these forces, a person's personality develops, which can be male or female regardless of gender and appearance. For a fulfilled, balanced life, people need both male and female energies so that they can draw on their full potential. The prerequisite for this is the appreciation of both life energies and their liberation from social norms and opinions: "If we free ourselves from stereotypes and social role expectations and stop chasing the spirit of the times, but instead learn to feel ourselves truly again, then we can make the qualities of female and male within us our teachers for life." Reconciling these forces with one another is the key to balancing the destructive forces. Freedom for the female force brings freedom for women and men in the 21st century - the prerequisite for peace in the world.
