The special juice of life: “Healthy Blood” explains in an easy-to-understand way how the quality of blood and thus health can be improved

In their new book “Healthy Blood” , US health experts Dr. Earl Mindell and Prof. Gene Bruno show what you should know about blood and the body’s natural detoxification mechanisms. In addition to methods for blood purification, they provide detailed information about foods, nutritional supplements and complementary therapies.

Daily stress

There is no doubt that harmful substances enter our bloodstream through the air we breathe, cosmetic products and even the food we eat every day. Over time, they can accumulate in the human body and cause headaches, fatigue, muscle pain, digestive problems, constipation and many other ailments. Because these symptoms are quite common, people often do not immediately think that toxins in the blood could be the cause.

In their new book "Healthy Blood", two renowned US scientists and best-selling authors Dr. Earl Mindell and Gene Bruno explain how pH, diet, exercise, environment and genetics affect the condition of the blood. They also explain how the body's natural detoxification mechanisms work to eliminate these substances. Finally, they combine this information and present foods and nutritional supplements that promote blood detoxification, as well as accompanying therapies that can help maintain healthy blood circulation.

Interesting facts about blood

Blood is the primary transport medium for both beneficial and harmful substances in the body. This vital fluid transports vitamins, minerals, oxygen, and hormones as well as heavy metals and other toxins through cellular pathways that average around 100,000 kilometers in length. Chemical substances enter the blood when the body absorbs them from the environment and are then distributed throughout the body through the bloodstream.

Around five liters of blood circulate in the body, coming into contact with almost all of the body's cells. It therefore plays a central role in our well-being. A cocktail of plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets performs important functions that are essential for health. Blood supplies the cells with gases and nutrients and frees them of waste products. Organs such as the liver and kidneys filter problematic substances from the blood and ensure that they are excreted from the body.

The individual components of blood, the vessels and organs involved in this circulation and their interaction represent a truly impressive mechanism. The more you know about this "constant flow of life", say Mindell and Bruno, "the more you have the opportunity to change your lifestyle accordingly and thus contribute to the health of your blood".

Blood tests and health

Regular blood tests are used to assess the state of health and, if necessary, to make changes to lifestyle and diet. This requires, for example, looking at blood lipid levels to determine heart health. The metabolic profile examines the regulation of blood sugar, electrolytes and fluids and kidney function. To determine how well the liver is functioning, the level of certain proteins that are produced or processed in the liver is measured.

The so-called "complete blood count" determines the red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and hemoglobin. The value of these biomarkers allows a look at vitality and energy, the state of the immune system and cardiovascular health. Since hormones play an essential role in reproduction as well as in many other aspects of health, certain hormones should be checked regularly, especially in adults, even if they are not routinely included in a blood test.

For the authors, blood tests are an "excellent way to find out whether you are doing well with your diet, lifestyle and medication (if you are taking any)." In addition to detailed information on these values, the guide offers comprehensive instructions on how to take your well-being into your own hands and support the cleansing of the body through diet and complementary therapies.
