Dr. Daniel Dufour died: Obituary for an extraordinary person, doctor and author
It was with immense sadness that the team at Mankau Verlag learned of the death of its author Dr. Daniel Dufour , who died in Switzerland on April 30, 2021. His career testifies to a life dedicated to healing body and soul.
After completing his medical studies in Geneva in 1979, Dr. Daniel Dufour (born 1951) quickly decided to practice as a war surgeon in Zimbabwe-Rhodesia and on the Cambodia-Thailand border. He then became a delegate and medical coordinator for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in armed conflicts in Asia, the Middle East and Europe, and continued his studies in London, which culminated in the DTM&H (Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene) and the MSc Tropical Medicine & International Health .
In 1988, Dufour founded the Clinique Vitamed in Geneva, where he practiced a comprehensive medical-therapeutic approach that puts the patient at the centre and treats the causes of the illness, not the symptoms. In 1997, he introduced the OGE method , "the inversion of the ego", which makes it possible to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in particular.
Daniel Dufour, author of several books, all published in their original French by the Canadian publisher Éditions de l'Homme and in German by Mankau Verlag, has created a remarkable work without compromise, in line with his convictions. His main themes are the pain of the "abandoned child", post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the importance of expressing and living out repressed emotions. His books have been translated into six languages; the German titles are: " The abandoned child ", " Anger is good! ", " Love crises " and " The end of the tunnel ".
"His openness and warm humanity made him a deeply lovable person," says Raphael Mankau, managing director of Mankau Verlag. A few days before his death, Daniel Dufour was able to finish his last book, which was very dear to his heart. It will be published by his Canadian publisher in autumn 2021.
Mankau Verlag will always remember this extraordinary, charismatic person, doctor and author with the greatest respect and honor him for his important contribution to reflection on health, medicine and humanity.
