Private lecturer Dr. med. Matthias Maak , born in 1977, worked after studying human medicine at the University Hospital rechts der Isar in Munich, among other places. He is employed as a senior physician at the surgical clinic of the University Hospital Erlangen. He qualified as a specialist in general surgery and was authorized to teach surgery. He then went on to become a specialist in visceral surgery and gain an additional qualification in proctology.

After his first difficult birth experience as a passive father, he was able to experience first-hand how HypnoBirthing can help during three more births as an active HypnoBirthing birth partner for his wife Julia.

Using the data on HypnoBirthing births collected by the HypnoBirthing Society of Europe (HBGE), he supports his wife's goal of bringing HypnoBirthing closer to the world of conventional medicine and showing how valuable this technique can be for parents and birth companions as a volunteer scientific advisor to the HBGE.
