Stone healing in TCM
Effects and applications of the most important healing stones for complaints and illnesses
In their guide , Prof. Li Wu and his two co-authors Dr. Natalie Lauer and Caroline Baroness de Liser impart valuable knowledge about the teachings of Chinese medicine, which are deeply rooted in Chinese philosophy. They also discuss the healing effects of stones and provide a guide for their use.
Stones carry ancient healing energies
For thousands of years, people in China have enjoyed bizarrely shaped garden stones or the so-called scholar stones (Gongshi), which symbolize duration and eternity. Stones owe their appeal to people not only to their special aesthetics. They accumulate energies that they release into their environment and that have healing effects on our organism, but also on our mind and soul.
Together with gemstone experts Caroline Baroness de Liser and Dr. Natalie Lauer, the well-known TCM professor Li Wu introduces the fascinating world of Chinese medicine in his latest guide and, in particular, familiarizes readers with the healing effects of stones.
Healing stones and life energy
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and many other ancient cultures rely on the healing power of nature, with which we have always been in physical and subtle exchange. It is assumed that the subtle energy Qi permeates the cosmos and all of nature with all its objects and phenomena. The Qi that surrounds us influences our body, mind and soul.
Chinese teaching is based on ancient traditions about the effect of substances from the plant, animal and mineral kingdoms on the life energy that flows through our body. Like medicinal herbs, stones contain chemical components that have specific medicinal properties. In addition, they also give off energies that can, under certain conditions, have a positive effect on our body's own Qi. Various factors such as quality, size, shape, colour, formation principle, crystal system and chemical composition of the stone play an important role in its energetic radiation. TCM makes use of these properties of healing stones and uses them to treat various illnesses and complaints.
Treatment of complaints
According to the holistic approach of TCM, no symptoms are combated. Rather, the aim is to restore the free and harmonious flow of life energy Qi, which is superior to all psychological and physical processes, all body functions and organ systems.
In therapy with healing stones, the selected energy carriers can either be worn on the body or placed on the affected parts of the body. It is useful to use the so-called organ clock as a guide, which indicates times of particular activity of the functional circles, when the organs in question are particularly receptive to the energies of the healing stones. But acupressure with healing stones, massages with healing stone oil, meditation with healing stones or placing healing stones in the immediate vicinity also harmonize the life energy Qi. Creams and healing stone water as well as elixirs energized with healing stones ensure well-being when applied externally (e.g. wraps and compresses, bathing treatments). When taken internally, the latter have a very intensive effect, as the energies then flow through the entire organism. In addition to the basics of Chinese healing, the guide presents the most important healing stones from A to Z and explains selection and application for various complaints.
