Meditative painting around the rose: Anna Marguerita Schön and Marlene Mankau invite you to blossom externally and internally with “Rose Mandalas”
A lovingly designed coloring and gift book continues the rose series from Mankau Verlag. In addition to the guidebook “ Rose Medicine ” and the planned audio book “ Rose Dream ”, the beautiful illustrations and affirmations of the “ Rose Mandalas ” inspire very personal rose moments.
Symbol of beauty and love
Hardly any other plant in the world has been described, sung about and revered as often as the rose. For thousands of years it has had a firm place in almost all cultures, where it is considered a symbol of beauty and love. Just in time for Valentine's Day and in keeping with the rose series with titles on health and well-being, " Rose Mandalas " is being published, a lovingly designed coloring and gift book.
This book is a heartfelt project of two friends who have discovered and grown to love the magic of roses. Communication designer Marlene Mankau and editor Anna Marguerita Schön have combined mandalas, zendalas, inspiring illustrations and inspirational texts about roses. While drawing and writing, the two of them were able to feel how they themselves blossomed. That is why they invite rose lovers of all ages to let their imagination run wild through meditative painting in order to discover their very own rose moments.
The Queen of Flowers
The rose, Latin rosa , was cultivated as an ornamental plant in the gardens of ancient China, Egypt and Persia thousands of years ago and has been considered the "queen of flowers" since ancient times - first called so by the Greek poet Sappho (around 600 BC). The cult of the rose reached its peak among the Greeks and Romans: the rose was dedicated to Aphrodite, Eros and Dionysus; ancient legends described the origin of roses as a remnant of the dawn on earth, when they rose from the sea foam together with Aphrodite or were created from the blood of Adonis.
The rose was also associated with pain because of its thorns and even with transience and death because of its fragile petals. The red color was attributed to the blood of Aphrodite, who was injured by the thorns, or to the blood of the nightingale, who colored the originally white rose red with her heart's blood.
The rose is the flower most often sung about or glorified in poetry and prose. Today there are more than 30,000 varieties of roses, which differ from one another in height, flower shape and color, and fragrance.
Coloring and blossoming
Together, all roses stand for beauty and love, for tenderness and strength; they inspire us to show ourselves in all our fullness and splendor. Whether with colored pencils, fineliners or felt-tip pens - when coloring in the lovingly designed illustrations, it's all about listening to yourself and following your own impulses: "As the queen of flowers, the rose is always at your side and reminds you that you are the queen in your own kingdom."
The hand-made mandalas, zendalas and all other drawings as well as strengthening affirmations and inspirational texts accompany you to your very personal rose moments. Small suggestions and tips serve as further inspiration, such as a musical clef that refers to the meditation CD " Rosentraum " which will be released in March 2021.
Further collaborations are planned with the blog www.rosenmomente.de and the Facebook page “Rosenmomente” which is currently being developed. The rose is not only fascinating because of its beauty and variety, but also contains over 400 valuable ingredients that are used in both folk medicine and pharmaceutical research.
