Sold over 150,000 times
The popular classic midwifery book " HypnoBirthing" by Marie F. Mongan is now available in its 9th edition with even higher quality features. With over 150,000 copies sold of the printed German edition alone, this book has established itself as a valuable companion for expectant parents since 2008. The contemporary new edition no longer includes an accompanying audio CD; instead, it offers the original HypnoBirthing exercises "Deep Relaxation for Birth Preparation – The Temple of Peace" and "Prenatal Parenting – Falling in Love with Your Baby" as convenient audio downloads. This allows parents to access the exercises anytime, anywhere, and integrate them into their daily lives.
The Practical Guide
Marie F. Mongan's main work has been complemented since August 2022 by the book "HypnoBirthing. The Practical Guide", written by Julia Maak, managing director of HypnoBirthing Gesellschaft Europa GmbH (HBGE) in Erlangen, and PD Dr. med. Matthias Maak. This practical guide offers expectant parents the opportunity to optimally adapt and specifically practice HypnoBirthing to their individual needs. Lovingly illustrated in color and based on the latest scientific findings and guidelines for obstetrics in German-speaking countries, it contains detailed instructions for all proven exercises by Marie F. Mongan as well as new exercise alternatives. In addition, expectant parents will find ten practical cards with self-tests, checklists, exercise instructions, and flexible training plans. The focus is on comprehensive and practical birth preparation.
Official Recognition of Midwife Continuing Education
The HypnoBirthing method is gaining increasing importance in German-speaking countries. Since December 2023, the HypnoBirthing certification training offered by the HBGE has been recognized by the Erlangen-Höchstadt Health Department with ten teaching units as continuing education for midwives in Germany.
First Clinical HypnoBirthing Center
Another milestone was reached in September 2024: The birth center at Sana Klinikum Landkreis Biberach, an academic teaching hospital of the University of Ulm, is the first clinical HypnoBirthing center in German-speaking countries. Here, certified midwives offer HypnoBirthing courses and provide special care for HypnoBirthing births. In parallel, the HBGE and the Biberach Birth Center are planning a joint research project on the experiences and benefits of HypnoBirthing for mother, father or partner, and child. Data from previous studies are already available.
A Look into the Future
Overall, since 2008, over 1,500 course instructors have been trained by the HBGE in German-speaking countries; in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, an estimated 60,000 HypnoBirthing births have taken place to date (as of 2023). "We are very pleased about the widespread recognition for HypnoBirthing," says HBGE Managing Director Julia Maak. "HypnoBirthing has now established itself as a recognized method and is increasingly supported by birth attendants – the successes prove the method right. We are confident that more and more birthing clinics will recognize the advantages of HypnoBirthing for expectant parents and birth attendants."
