Ear Seeds – the card set for the health trend: Tanja Anna Maria Parvin presents areas of application for the ear beads and gives tips on how to use them correctly

While they are still considered an insider tip in Europe, they are already an absolute trend among stars and starlets in Los Angeles and New York: golden ear seeds for stylish self-treatment of stress and other symptoms.

Gold for our life energy

Earrings to improve your health? The latest beauty and lifestyle trend comes to us from the USA, as always, but goes back to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and the millennia-old knowledge of acupuncture. According to this, well-being depends on Qi, i.e. the flow of energy in the body. This runs along invisible paths, the "meridians", that run through the body.

The ear also has various points that reflect the body and its organs as a whole. And to use the gold-plated beads, you don't even have to pierce your ears - they are simply stuck onto the right energy points and there they unfold their beneficial effect on headaches and back pain, allergies and general health problems as well as other chronic and psycho-vegetative complaints.

With her set of 20 high-quality ear seeds, 36 lovingly illustrated cards and a 24-page accompanying book with symptom register, the Heppenheim-based alternative practitioner Tanja Anna Maria Parvin , who specializes in ear acupuncture and holistic beauty in her practice, presents the most important areas of application and gives valuable tips on correct use.

Beauty trend with additional health benefits

For some time now, the relevant fashion magazines and lifestyle blogs have been talking about a new trend that can be briefly described as “acupuncture without needles” or “ear acupressure”. It is intended to release tension precisely and promote inner peace.

The so-called ear seeds are tiny gold-plated acupressure balls that are placed in the auricle with transparent adhesive dots. According to TCM, the auricle functions like a control panel of the body. If one of the almost 200 energy points is stimulated by acupuncture or acupressure, the nervous system reacts and the homeostatic mechanisms at the relevant part of the body are set in motion. If placed in the right places, the golden ear seeds can relieve headaches, nausea and stress with the help of gentle pressure.

Originally, the "ear seeds" are the black seeds of the plant Vaccaria Segetalis. These seeds are suitable due to their almost flawless round shape with a diameter of around 2 mm, but they don't look particularly chic. Alternatives made of metal and ceramic are a little smaller and transform the ear seeds into fashion accessories with healing properties.

Using the cards and ear seeds

Before using the cards and the beads, you should calm down internally, for example by consciously breathing in and out a few times, with the focus on breathing out. Breathing out should take a little longer than breathing in. This is because breathing is directly connected to the limbic and other vegetative systems in the central nervous system, i.e. calm and conscious breathing allows the mind to calm down, the muscles can relax and the heart beats slower. "Inner peace is an ideal prerequisite for self-treatment," advises the ear acupuncture expert.

However, if you are suffering from unclear pain, severe exhaustion or weakness, you should refrain from self-treatment. If you are pregnant or have psychological problems, it is also advisable to consult a doctor or alternative practitioner beforehand. Otherwise, it depends largely on your own personality or the way you approach situations, whether you choose the individual cards based on symptoms or draw them intuitively. The corresponding energy points in the ear can be found on the back of each card with a symptom or topic.
