“The art of living” finds a new home in Murnau. Southern Bavaria’s magazine for health, creativity and joie de vivre is now published by Mankau Verlag

Claudia Meißner launched the magazine in 1986 and has published it quarterly ever since. Now, after 35 years, she is handing over her work to the new publisher Raphael Mankau and editor-in-chief Anna Marguerita Schön and looks back as proudly as she looks forward: "I am grateful for the many encounters and conversations with all the wonderful people and for the joy it has given me to create this magazine. And I am delighted that ' The Art of Living ' is now being continued by a new team - with a breath of fresh air, wonderful ideas and a lot of know-how!"

New faces, new layout, new impulses

As a holistically oriented book publisher with a focus on health, healing and life coaching, Mankau Verlag has always been close to the "art of living" in terms of content. "Now it is our heart's desire to skilfully combine the book sector and our love of magazine editing under one roof," says publisher Raphael Mankau. "It feels like two puzzle pieces are snapping into place," confirms editor-in-chief Anna Marguerita Schön, paying tribute to her predecessor's work: "Through positive impulses, valuable information, networks and poetry, Claudia Meißner has helped people browse, dream and find each other in a wonderful way over all these years. We are aware of the big shoes to fill - at the same time, we are happy to venture into fresh impulses."

The first Mankau edition of "Art of Living" will be published at the end of June with a new logo, in a new, handy portrait format and with a large, independent editorial section. The quarterly magazine will be available free of charge at around 1,300 locations, including health food stores, bookstores, shops, doctors' and naturopathic practices, cafés, and will also be sent to subscribers.

By the way: “The Art of Living” is produced by a Miesbach printing company with a circulation of around 23,000 copies in compliance with high ecological standards. The magazine is printed on 100 percent high-quality recycled paper and the entire printed product is certified with the “Blue Angel” environmental label. “Regionality and environmental protection are important to us,” emphasizes Anna Marguerita Schön. “Together with our readers, we want to make the world a little bit better.”

Topics, authors and interviewees who know how to inspire

The cover story of the current summer issue is “Power places in southern Bavaria”; three articles present magical and strengthening places in the regions of Upper Bavaria, Bavarian Swabia and Lower Bavaria.

The best-known name in the new "art of living" is probably Konstantin Wecker. The famous songwriter, author and actor gave Anna Marguerita Schön an inspiring interview on the subject of art, culture and life "in stormy times", i.e. in times of pandemic. He sees a great need to reverse the "non-recognition of the systemic relevance of art in times of Corona", to "open hearts and minds and bring culture back into people's hearts", because in the end it is art, poetry, that holds our world together at its core.

In addition to Konstantin Wecker, the all-round artist and musician Marcel Engler, known to many as a member of the band "Loisach Marci", will also have his say. During his performances with the alphorn, he likes to challenge and delight the audience with a combination of rap music and alpine sounds. The well-known psychologist and bestselling author Robert Betz will also be contributing an article in the "Strong Men" section, as will the successful outdoor blogger Kathrin Heckmann, alias "Fräulein Draußen".

As usual, the Southern Bavaria marketplace provides information about lectures, events, training courses and offers for body, mind and soul.
