The Petersen Process of Healing: “Intuitively Healthy” explains why we get sick and how we stay healthy

For general practitioner and TCM doctor Dr. Christina Barbara Petersen, the path to recovery begins with listening to the inner voice. Based on her own experiences, in her successful guidebook " Intuitively Healthy " she underpins intuitive knowledge with scientific findings and practical tools for personal development.

Understanding why we get sick and how we get and stay healthy

Never before have the global efforts in medical research and the expenditure on health been greater than today. And yet the number of sick people who can only be helped inadequately or not at all by medicine is constantly increasing. Despite sophisticated diagnostic methods in the western world, it is often not possible to find a diagnosis for obvious complaints. For the specialist in general medicine and doctor of traditional Chinese medicine Dr. med. Christina Barbara Petersen, it is therefore important to look deeper behind the scenes in order to understand why we get sick and how we get and stay healthy.

In her successful self-published title from 2019, which is now being published as a revised new edition by Mankau Verlag, she imparts knowledge and techniques that support every reader in listening to themselves, perceiving themselves and following the signals of their own body. In doing so, she combines conventional medicine, personal development and spiritual approaches with the aim of enabling not only lasting health but also sustainable happiness and maximum success in all areas of life.

The health of the doctor

In no other field do so many people sell themselves short as in social and medical professions. Like many of her colleagues, Christina Barbara Petersen also learned during her studies and specialist training that her own needs are often put aside and that the high motivation to help other people can turn into frustration, burnout and depression due to constant self-exploitation and excessive demands. It is therefore particularly important to her to create greater awareness of the issue of doctor health among the population. Doctors still hold a key position and serve as role models.

This demand, combined with the ever-increasing demands of work, often leads to doctors being prone to not perceiving themselves and sacrificing themselves for others. "Through mindfulness, focus and, for example, prevention programs, we can become healthier doctors who look after themselves and act as role models for our patients again," demands the doctor and author. "We have to stand up and work together for more healthy doctors - Healthy Docs!" - this is also the title of her podcast, in which she presents selected interviews and strategies for better health.

Conventional medicine and personal responsibility

For the benefit of patients, Christina Barbara Petersen would like to see a coexistence of conventional medicine and alternative treatment methods. Her vision is that doctors and alternative therapists work together: "It's about alternative treatment options and how we can use them for ourselves and our health." She sees the outstanding capabilities of conventional medicine in acute and emergency care, while for chronic illnesses, for example, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) can be brought on board.

In TCM, the body is seen as a complex whole - in connection with the psyche and the environment. The focus is not on repair, but on observing the changes. As a patient, you get to know your body better, perception and thus personal responsibility are trained. Anyone who has learned to listen to the body also knows that their own behavior in the past often led to the symptoms and that a change can help them to disappear. Symptoms show when we are out of balance or no longer on the right path. "By perceiving this signal, interpreting it and behaving differently accordingly, we can bring our body back into balance."

With her book, doctor Christina Petersen wants to show that we can trust nature and the signals from our body and then adjust the screws that will bring us back into balance. It's all about taking personal responsibility!

Throughout the book, readers are repeatedly encouraged to pick up a pen and reflect on a few questions. In Dr. Petersen's experience, this is the only way to become truly aware of their thoughts, feelings and actions.

Contemporary communication: In her podcast “Healthy Docs,” Dr. Christina Petersen publishes free expert tips, inspiring experiences and exciting interviews on the topics of modern, alternative, integrative and intuitive medicine.

Words of warning: “Just as we ignore our body’s own signals on the inside and carry on until illness occurs, we treat nature on the outside in the same way, which is actually the most important thing we have – we cannot live without it.”
