Applied depth psychology for everyone: Andreas Winter’s bestseller “Healing through Knowledge” is published for the first time as an updated paperback
For more than thirty years, the psychological counselor has been helping his clients from all over the world to improve their quality of life. The core of his unusual but successful method is the decoding of unconscious blockages in order to resolve chronic complaints. Andreas Winter describes his approach in his successful standard work " Healing through Knowledge ", which is now available in an updated paperback edition.
Decoupling of early childhood causes
The qualified teacher and "psychocoach" Andreas Winter became known for "not tying his clients to a couch for years, but rather, in a rush, coming across the psychologically wrongly coupled life experiences in order to show them to the patient and resolve them." This is how the former television pastor Jürgen Fliege describes it in his foreword to the first edition of "Healing through Knowledge", which was published ten years ago.
In it, Winter, head of one of the largest coaching institutes in Germany, not only traces his professional path and the development of his depth-psychological healing method, but also provides an entertaining and scientifically sound introduction to the basics of his approach. More than three decades ago, the student at the time had an astonishing experience: chronic illnesses can be cured through knowledge, as their origin lies in a childhood trauma that is symbolically expressed in symptoms of illness. As soon as the cause is deciphered and identified, the symptoms become superfluous and disappear. The guide, now available for the first time as an updated and revised paperback, takes readers by the hand and shows them how they can easily help other people to become symptom-free.
The logic of symptoms
According to Andreas Winter, an illness in the classic sense is “an acquired functional limitation due to purely physical, i.e. biological, chemical or physical causes”. These causes can be external factors such as radiation, violence, viruses, bacteria, poisons, pressure, temperature, etc.
The things that lead to smoking too much, getting the flu too often or suffering from cardiac arrhythmia are not hammer blows or poisons, but information that triggers biochemical, long-term stress reactions on a subconscious level. Contrary to what medicine and the pharmaceutical industry would have us believe, it is not drugs with questionable side effects that help here, but rather education about certain behavioral patterns and the dissolution of false beliefs. Whether it is flower pollen, cat, dog or horse hair, house dust mites, etc. - everything, no matter how harmless, can make you ill if stress hormones are involved. A completely natural process is subconsciously charged with symbolic meaning, the cause of which lies in a traumatic childhood experience.
The symptoms are therefore neither an illness nor stupidity, but rather very intelligent protective concepts to avoid losing psychological control - Andreas Winter therefore speaks here and in his other books of the so-called "algorithm of the psyche". With the rational horizon and emotional maturity of an adult, situations that trigger stress can be emotionally reassessed and thus reinterpreted in terms of their threatening nature.
Self-healing through coaching
"Coaching is not a cure or therapy, but rather an insight-oriented conversation with the goal of changing a previous thought pattern through insight and understanding," explains Andreas Winter, who can show with thousands of practical examples how psychological, psychosomatic and chronic symptoms disappear when the individual triggers are made conscious and emotionally reinterpreted. The coaching conversation therefore enables insight that leads to self-healing.
To do this, the person affected by a symptom must be known on a deeper, subconscious level in order to recognize their often much more fundamental needs. Not only statements, but also facial expressions, gestures, voice and choice of words play a decisive role, as well as biographical data and circumstances. This information helps to understand the personality and character and thus not only to better understand the cause of the symptom, but also to bring about the most intensive improvement possible in self-esteem. However, this also requires the client's willingness to change, willingness to cooperate and ability to reflect, because the coach is only a source of inspiration.
Anyone who has understood this book and the underlying approach is already in a position to help people with a few simple questions, says Winter. Anyone who wants more can deepen this knowledge with a compact training course to become a health advisor.
