Petra Neumayer and Roswitha Stark: "The spoken word supports the visualization of healing symbols"

Interview with the two bestselling authors on the new audiobook edition of their long-seller "Healing with Symbols"

"Audiobooks have become firmly established, and their use knows no bounds. They can often convey complex content more memorably than printed books, as voices, sounds, and melodies activate our limbic system and thus our emotions and memories. The visualization of a healing symbol, in particular, can be facilitated by the spoken word because it reaches us directly and unfiltered – what we hear can touch us more deeply, relax us, and have a healing effect." After 13 years and a total of eight sold editions, the long-seller "Healing with Symbols" by Petra Neumayer and Roswitha Stark, experts in informational medicine and authors of the bestselling series "Medicine to Draw On," among others, is now also available as an audiobook with three bonus symbol meditations.

Over the last 20 years, you have firmly established the topic of informational medicine and energetic healing through your book series and card sets. Your long-seller "Healing with Symbols" is now also available as an audiobook – how did this come about?

Petra Neumayer: Audiobooks have now established themselves as a medium. They are so popular because they offer a modern, flexible way to engage with topics. Whether in the bathtub or on the subway, the use of audiobooks knows no bounds. In addition, a well-narrated audiobook can convey complex content more memorably than simply reading would. This is because voices, sounds, and melodies activate the limbic system, i.e., areas in our brain that are responsible for emotions and memories. In this way, what we hear can touch us more deeply and relax us, or even have a healing effect.

Audiobooks are becoming increasingly popular, especially when you can listen to them for relaxation at home or while traveling. But does the audiobook medium also have a special influence on the power of symbols?

Petra Neumayer: Especially when it comes to the visualization of a symbol, the spoken word can be supportive. It reaches us directly and unfiltered. This makes it easy to create images in the listener's mind. And it is precisely this intuitive understanding of these images/symbols that is the key to their energetic effect on health and well-being.

You have supplemented the description of the 64 most important healing systems with three guided meditations with musical accompaniment. Which symbols were selected for this, and what effect is associated with them?

Roswitha Stark: All symbols have complex effects, resulting in a wide variety of application possibilities. We have chosen the Ypsilon symbol, the Sun Sign, and the Galactic Spiral. Briefly summarized, the Ypsilon stands for balance, harmony, and the connection between humans and the energies of the universe. The Sun Sign stands for self-knowledge and power that radiates from the center into all areas of life. The Galactic Spiral allows you to connect with your creative potential and helps you to deal with these powerful energies.

One of the three bonus symbol meditations in the audiobook is dedicated to the "Sun Sign" – the central dot with a circle around it. It is considered a universally applicable healing symbol: it is attributed the wonderful property of balancing until balance is achieved. Therefore, it cannot be over- or under-dosed and automatically ceases its effect when the state is balanced. It is also used as a powerful amplification sign to send positive energies in all directions.
Humankind has used symbols since time immemorial, and even our modern world cannot be understood without codes and sign systems. What do all these symbol worlds have in common, and where does the potential to use them for energetic healing come from?

Petra Neumayer: Dots, lines, circles, waves – from these simple natural phenomena, people created and painted the first signs in caves. And presumably, our ancestors also knew about their effect. Only the latest brain research has revealed that symbols are a condensed representation of complex information. And these can be instinctively, directly, and quickly grasped by the brain and linked with stored knowledge. Therefore, these "visual codes" can convey deep meaning and messages to our organism. That's why we also like to speak of "informational medicine."

The applications for symbols are almost unlimited, and negative side effects are virtually nonexistent. Which therapeutic methods are particularly promising at the moment, and what should still be absolutely considered when using symbols?

Roswitha Stark: In particular, the ability to activate self-healing powers through symbols seems very important to us. Because ultimately, they are what make healing possible in the first place. Even when we take antibiotics. And of course, as in all medical disciplines, "Primum non nocere" applies – avoiding harm to the client is the highest priority in the ethics of the practitioner, so that no manipulation or the like takes place. Compassion, respect, and support, however, should be part of every therapist's toolkit.

The long-seller: The book "Healing with Symbols" was first published in 2012 and has since gone through eleven editions – three as a brochure and eight as a paperback. The 64 central healing symbols, whose meaning and effect are described, are also available in the popular and practical card set "Medicine to Draw On".
In your books and card sets – and now also in the audiobook – you have focused on Körbler's bar codes, the symbols of "Sacred Geometry", and selected spiritual symbols from all over the world. What inspired this selection, and where do you see lines of development for "new" symbol worlds?

Roswitha Stark: Since we published our first book in the "Medicine to Draw On" series in 2006, a veritable flood of healing symbols from all worlds has come to light. This is certainly due, among other things, to the realization of modern medicine that health cannot only be achieved on a biochemical level. Energy and informational medicine has played an increasingly important role ever since. And the higher the collective vibration becomes, the more subtle the healing methods become. This opens up infinite potential for healing work with symbols.

Symbols are considered the language of the subconscious and the soul. Currently, there is much talk about the language models of artificial intelligence, which are penetrating all areas of life. How do you assess the opportunities and risks of AI for energetic and therapeutic healing work?

Petra Neumayer: Healing with symbols is not about technical solutions that AI could support us with, but about conscious work. And we think it's wonderful that this is exclusively reserved for us humans! However, AI can catalog alternative healing knowledge from all over the world and make it accessible in every corner of the world. In this way, ancient healing knowledge from all over the world can also be preserved.
