“Healing stones can be a valuable help to you, especially if you have chronic complaints!”

Interview with TCM doctor Prof. TCM (Univ. Yunnan) Li Wu and guidebook author Dr. Natalie Lauer about " Chinese crystal healing ".

"Gemstones have accumulated energies over the course of their creation, which they release into their environment and which can have a healing effect on the body, mind and soul. Healing stone therapy plays an important role in the holistic healing approach of TCM, which never just treats symptoms but tries to find out the cause of the illness and harmonize the flow of life energy Qi. There is a suitable stone for every concern."

The renowned TCM doctor Li Wu and Dr. Natalie Lauer, who published the guide “Chinese Stone Healing” together with Caroline Baroness de Liser, provide practical background knowledge about common healing stones and proven tips for their use in everyday complaints and common illnesses.

Many cultures attribute special properties to stones. What do the stones represent in Chinese culture?

Prof. TCM (Univ. Yunnan) Li Wu: Healing stones in Chinese culture have a 5000-year-old history. In both Taoism and Buddhism, people firmly believe that everything on our earth and in the cosmos is energetically connected. Gemstones also contain various energies that they release into their environment and that have a healing effect on the human organism, but also on the mind and soul. For this reason, healing stones play an important role in healing in TCM.

Stones are not only fascinating because of their diverse shapes and colors, they also have - as you just said - a healing effect on the body, mind and soul. What is the basis for the healing power of stones?

Dr. Natalie Lauer: The healing power of certain stones is based on several factors. Firstly, each color of a healing stone radiates a certain vibration or energy that penetrates the organism and resonates with the body's energies. In addition to the color, the different effects of healing stones are also determined by the respective nature of the crystal structure and the history of the healing stone's creation. In addition, the healing effect is influenced by the different mineral classes and trace elements contained in the stones.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) does not fight symptoms, but tries to restore the harmonious flow of life energy. For which complaints and illnesses can stones have a healing effect? And how do you find the right stone for the respective application?

Prof. TCM (Univ. Yunnan) Li Wu: Stone healing in TCM has a long tradition. According to the yin and yang system and the five-element theory, Chinese medicine analyses the cause of the disease and offers appropriate healing stones to alleviate and even cure the symptoms. This includes almost all diseases. In contrast to Western medicine, which often only combats the symptoms of the disease, TCM is based on the diagnosed cause of the disease. Accordingly, different forms of therapy are developed, including various healing stone therapies. In order to find the right healing stones, various components must be taken into account, such as yin and yang (too much heat or cold?), the five-element system (including the color radiation), the mineral content (such as iron or calcium) and the gemstone effect. In our book, we show you step by step how to find the right stone for you and your partner.

Only “real” stones have the best healing effect; fakes do not have the desired healing effect or may even have damaging effects. How can you tell if something is authentic?

Prof. TCM (Univ. Yunnan) Li Wu: It is difficult to tell whether a stone is real or fake. Please contact a specialist shop you trust. The healing power of a real stone is given by its internal energy radiation and creates a yin-yang balance in the human meridian system. An artificially colored stone may look very similar to a real colored stone, but it has no healing effect and can even upset a person's balance through a false energetic radiation. Fake stones are therefore harmful.

Despite all the positive experiences, crystal healing is not scientifically proven and even carries certain risks. What should be taken into account when using healing stones and when is treatment with stones not appropriate?

Prof. TCM (Univ. Yunnan) Li Wu: Crystal healing has a long tradition not only in China, but also in many other cultures. Even though scientific proof is still lacking, people have repeatedly found in many practical applications that iron-containing stones such as ruby are good for the circulation or calcium-containing stones such as calcite are good for bones and joints.

Despite the many good properties of gemstones, you should be careful when using them in practice. Healing stones are not suitable for acute infectious diseases, but they can be a valuable aid for chronic diseases. As a rule, you should not put the stones in drinking water because some types of stone can release harmful substances. You should always discuss the specific application with your alternative practitioner, doctor or pharmacist.

When you think of healing stones, you usually think of wearing them as amulets or placing them in your immediate environment. What other options are there for external or internal use?

Dr. Natalie Lauer: There are numerous external and internal applications, and patients benefit from a wide variety of options. For example, you can make an elixir or healing stone water and ingest it or use it externally. Creams can also be energized with healing stones. They are used for a variety of indications - depending on the stone. Healing stone wraps or poultices can help with joint problems or fever. Bathing treatments in healing stone water also have a positive effect on health. Otherwise, as mentioned, healing stones are placed on the body or worn on the body, for example as an amulet or as a tumbled stone that you keep picking up. You can also set up healing stones and use them to charge the environment with energy. In addition, staying in a stone circle or meditating in front of a healing stone can be like a balm for the body, mind and soul. The stones can also be wonderfully integrated into traditional Chinese healing methods. For example, you can perform acupressure using suitable healing stones or perform healing massages with gemstone oil. In both cases, the healing stones promote the health-promoting effects of the therapies.

The seven main chakras in particular can be energetically activated by healing stones. What is the relationship between the individual energy centers and the stones that correspond to them?

Dr. Natalie Lauer: Healing stones, like chakras, have individual vibrations. When appropriate healing stones are placed on the chakras, the individual vibration of the respective healing stone stimulates the vibration frequency of the chakra associated with it. The color of a healing stone is directly related to its vibration, which is why it is also decisive for the intensity of chakra activation. The best way to do this is to place the healing stone directly in the desired chakra region. Taking gemstone essences can also revitalize the energy centers.
